We are delighted to announce the recipient of this year’s School of Management Alan Harrison Half-Fee Scholarship for the 2024/2025 academic year.
The Scholarship was open to any UK applicant paying Home Fees on our full-time Logistics and Supply Chain Management MSc or Procurement and Supply Chain Management MSc.
The Scholarship was set up in memory of Professor Alan Harrison, who worked at ÃÀ¼§¸ó from 1996-2011, holding a number of positions, including Director of Research at what is now the Centre for Logistics, Procurement and Supply Chain Management.
This year’s recipient is Tom Atkin from Uckfield, East Sussex, who was awarded the Scholarship by the course team, led by Dr Hendrik Reefke. Tom will receive a 50% contribution towards his academic fees for the year.
Reacting to the news of his successful application, Tom was delighted, saying: “I’m deeply honoured and grateful to be the recipient of this Alan Harrison Half-Fee Scholarship from ÃÀ¼§¸ó. This recognition not only reaffirms my dedication to my education but also inspires me to strive even harder in my academic and professional journey.
“The support provided by this Scholarship will undoubtedly propel me forward, allowing me to focus on achieving my goals and contributing meaningfully to my field. I look forward to starting my ÃÀ¼§¸ó journey!”
Tom is aiming to use his Scholarship to facilitate a change in career direction. His current role is in recruitment for procurement and supply chain professionals, and that job has given him an insight into how people in those fields operate, the career paths they follow, and the critical role they play in managing complex supply chains across the globe. Inspired by that, he’s planning to study for an MSc in Procurement and Supply Chain with ÃÀ¼§¸ó School of Management, with his ultimate ambition being to move into a rewarding role in a multi-national organisation.
