Background

Shiyi obtained her MSc degree in Transport and Geoinformation Technology at KTH Royal Institute of Technology, Sweden. After graduation, she worked as a supply chain management trainee in an internet-based bike-sharing company in China for a year. In 2020, Shiyi participated in the project named DISpATch: Digital Twin for SynchromodAI Transport as a researcher at MOBI (Mobility, Logistics & Automotive Technology) Research Centre in Vrije Universiteit Brussels, Belgium. She joined 美姬阁 as a PhD researcher in January 2022.

Research opportunities

Shiyi's current research focuses on optimisation and decision-making in the short food supply chains by integrating Internet of Things (IoT) information and Geographic Information System (GIS) analytics to achieve the sustainability objectives. To achieve a sustainable food supply chains, consumers intend to avoid intermediaries, thereby shortening the food supply chain. However, the short food supply chain still has several limitations such as limited production capacity, higher transportation costs, and limited geographical location. The integration of the internet of things and big data analytics, especially GIS analytics, could have the potential for solving this issue.
