Sue is one of the world's leading expert practitioners in developing sustainability strategies in major companies and aligning them with business objectives.

She runs her own consultancy business; her clients currently include Mars, Primark, O2, RBS, Jersey Telecom, and Danone. During her time at Unilever, Sue led the work to embed the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan to support growth, build brands with purpose, build employee engagement and future proof the business.

Alongside her consultancy work, Sue supports three start-up organisations on a pro-bono basis operating in the Purpose and sustainability space. Until September 2018, she was EVP Sustainable Business and Communications at Unilever. In this role Sue led the work to embed the Unilever Sustainable Living Plan to support growth, build brands with purpose, build employee engagement and future proof the business. She was part of the 5-strong executive team, led by the CEO, that rebuffed the Kraft Heinz hostile bid and handled the aftermath.

Previous to her work at Unilever, Sue was Director General, Customer Strategy, Marketing and Communications at the Department for Work and Pensions. Sue sat on the department’s Executive Team. Sue’s life prior to DWP was spent in advertising and Public Affairs. She was a board account director at both Fishburn-Hedges, and previously Abbott Mead Vickers, with a particular focus on long term behaviour change campaigning. She started her advertising career at Young & Rubicam, a move she made after 6 years in the Department of Energy.
