Peru GROWS will produce new knowledge to identify the dependence of ecosystems, food security, energy production and domestic use on the hydrological regime of the Rio Santa catchment, in the Andean Cordillera Blanca in Peru.
The likely changes in glacier volumes and runoff due to future climate change will be projected and used to estimate socio-ecological impacts using a systems modelling approach. The systems model will be exploited working closely with stakeholders to devise robust adaptation and mitigation strategies at different scales that promote poverty reduction, equitable sharing of resources and economic growth.
