Rwandan daily consumption of peanut flour is estimated to be 21.43 g/person/day with a risk of exposure to aflatoxin put at 0-627.14 ng/kgbw/day. Rwanda women's plasma was reported to contain 鈥1-2 orders of magnitude above the current guidance based on elevated risk of liver cancer of the FAO/WHO Joint Expert Committee on Food Additives鈥.
The project aims to acquire benchmark data on the agronomy and aflatoxin prevalence in Rwanda, towards the development of intervention strategies for aflatoxins exposure and hepatitis vaccination in Rwanda.
