Background

Akhil Dinesh obtained his bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering from IIAEM, India in 2017. He joined ÃÀ¼§¸ó shortly after that and graduated from the MSc. in Thermal Power course in 2018. In February 2019, he joined the Center for Propulsion as a research assistant in gas turbine operations. Since then, he has supported 10 MSc projects at the center and has also been involved in several funded research and industrial projects. His main research interests include gas turbine modelling, performance simulations, digital twin frameworks, health monitoring, control systems and artificial intelligence. He also commenced his study towards a part-time PhD in Aerospace Engineering at ÃÀ¼§¸ó in February 2020.

Current activities

Akhil Dinesh has been involved in EFFICIENT, a Clean Sky 2 research project which aims at developing environmentally-friendly fire suppression agents for aircraft application. This project was completed successfully in 2021. He has also been involved in industrial projects for developing a gas turbine performance monitoring software to the needs of the client. The project included detailed analysis of sequential combustor design along with complex secondary air networks for an industrial gas turbine engine. He is also working on gas turbine life extension through digital twins using artificial intelligence towards his PhD dissertation. He has been supporting various activities at the center which includes supervision of MSc students, delivering tutorials for Turbomatch, developing software tools for enhanced learning experience and ISABE conference activities. He is also currently teaching 'Introduction to artificial intelligence' unit at Milton Keynes University.
